Our Values

The Six “I”s: At Rubicon Maritime, our commitment to excellence is driven by our core values, known as the “Six I’s.” These principles are the foundation of our approach to vessel management and guide every aspect of our operations.

Introspection
We believe that growth begins with understanding ourselves. Introspection allows us to reflect on our actions, decisions, and values. By taking the time to evaluate our experiences, we gain clarity and insight, leading to better decision-making and a deeper connection with our goals. This practice of self-awareness is at the core of our approach, ensuring that we remain true to our mission and continuously evolve.

Initiative
We value proactive behavior and encourage our team to ask what a situation demands and strive to provide it. We believe in anticipating challenges and seizing opportunities, reacting to ever-changing environments, and taking ownership over the outcome.
Innovation
We embrace innovation as a key driver of our success. By fostering creativity and forward-thinking, we develop and implement cutting-edge solutions that enhance our efficiency, sustainability, and overall operations.
Integrity in Safety
Safety is at the core of everything we do. We uphold the highest standards of integrity in all safety-related matters, ensuring that our crew, vessels, and the marine ecosystem are protected through rigorous safety practices and unwavering commitment.
Interdependence
We believe in the strength of teamwork and collaboration. By recognizing our interdependence, we foster a culture where every individual’s contribution is valued, and working together allows us to achieve more than we could individually.
Improvement
Continuous improvement is the foundation of our success. We are committed to refining our processes, enhancing our skills, and adapting to new challenges. We see every setback as an opportunity for learning, and every success as a stepping stone for further growth. Our pursuit of improvement ensures that we deliver excellence in everything we do, striving to be better every day.

About us

History and Founders

British Marine was founded by Alan Bekhor, former managing director and partner in the Reuben Brothers owned commodities business, Transworld Metals. Alan established British Marine in 1999 to own and operate dry bulk vessels, and soon established its own in-house technical management platform, providing all aspects of management necessary for the running of its owned vessels.

Reuben Brothers is the family office of David and Simon Reuben, business leaders in private equity, real estate investment and venture capital. During the 1990s Reuben Brother’s commodities business, Transworld Metals, was one of the largest metals traders in the world. Having previously invested in shipping as part of their commodities business, RB returned to the shipping sector in 2014, placing orders for newbuild bulk carriers at top tier shipyards.

In 2014 the two parties agreed to form a joint venture, named RB British Marine, to incorporate British Marine’s commercial and technical vessel management capabilities as an independent company, which in turn provides services to its ship owning principals.

In 2024 RB British Marine rebranded as Rubicon Maritime, to better express its status as an independent vessel management platform.
